PORTED - Get LG G3 ROM on your G2

The new LG's flagship, G3, has just been released but its ROM is already ported! For G2 users, there's a good news, you can get it right now!

There's not only one port, but already two full-ROM ports from different developers: Cloudyfa and OptimusRs. Both of the ROMs should be stable and contain all G3's features.

As mentioned, there are two builds:

Both of them should be stable enough, though you should definitely make a backup. Installation is basically the same, flash via recovery. You need to flash the KitKat Baseband on OptimusG3 ROM.

Both of the ROMs are coming with Aroma installer.

So there is a chance someone will make it for other devices?

  3. Well, it is nearly impossible to make an exact copy of the Optimus UI but there's a chance to do that. (See HTC Sense 6 port for Nexus 5). Anyway, we can port various system apps (such as Launcher) or boot animation and make a flashable ZIP of all this stuff. Than compile it with AOSP Code, let's say, and we're done!

It will not look as the Optimus UI but the ROM will have the parts of it: Launcher, wallpapers, sounds or whatever we add. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/rom-t2776792

    Yeah I have the g3 launcher :)
Is it possible to change the look of the notifications to be like touchwiz or any other phone? The stock look is very ugly

  5. What do you mean by notification look? You mean icons in the status bar?

I mean to make the notification bar look like this: http://www.sammobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Screenshot_2012-11-15-20-56-57.png
    And like this:

    And not like this:

    And not like this:

    Is it possible?

  7. I know there have been many requests for Nexus 4 Sense 6 ports but none of the builds is functional.

There is already a development thread of porting Sense 5:
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/sense-5-0-port-development-t2326415

    But currently with no result.

Even the Sense 6 for Nexus 5 is very experimental and contains lots of bugs. It will take a long time till the ROM is rebuilt for N5, and then some more time for N4.

Ohh so I can give up on that..
And if I have carbon rom , can I add features from other Roms like the original halo or slim recents or anything like that?

  9. Well, you can check out the XDA for some possible ports.. There's s possibility that somebody has ported a ROM feature and made it available for more ROMs by flashing the specific ZIP. If you're looking for some specific mod, try to Google it. To answer your question, it is possible.

By the way, Carbon is a great ROM, but I changed it with the Paranoid Android. Check it out as well!

I tried it and it was nice but I like roms which merging a lot of features from a lot of roms, like carbon which got hover and peek from PA and some other staff and i hope they'll merge halo and slim recents and some more cool features from other roms.

In PA it feels like there are no customizable options, I wish they could make hybrid settings again but i think that's impossible in KitKat..

I think CM developed a new feature which is like peek or something like that aren't they?

  11. I completely understand you, I actually tried Paranoid twice, I had it for about 10 minutes or so for the first time, it just didn't have any useful features compared to Carbon..then I realised the features are actually there and the system is made very simply which is something I enjoy.

Moreover, the Hover feature is one of the best I've ever seen.

After all, 1000 people, 1000 opinions, each person has its best ROM with best features.

In terms of CyanogenMod, I am not interested in it anymore, I was disappointed the last time I tried it.

I don't actually know if they have some kind of Peek but what I know is that Peek has been ported and is now available for all ROMs with no root needed:

    https://github.com/lzanita09/NotificationPeekPort/releases
So basically there's no need for any extra Peek-like apps.

Oh that's cool but it won't work with multitasking right?

And Do you know mahdi-rom? that's one of the best I think they are merging any feature from all the ROMs but unfortunately it keeps crashing on my N4.. everything I'm doing always makes the sistemui crash..

And there's the new CyanogenMod Heads Up:

    http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/06/21/cyanogenmod-unearths-floating-heads-up-notifications-in-aosp-enables-them-in-latest-cm11-nightlies/

Looks nice but I don't like that rom..

Do you have any idea how can I have that kind of floating windows?:

I got XHaloFloatingWindow but it didn't look that way..

  13. Yes , I know Mahdi ROM but I've never really tried it. Maybe sometime..

Heads Up looks cool, though I would rather prefer Hover with the floating mode as the HeadsUp feature doesn't come with floating mode probably..

To your second link, that looks like OMNI-ROM multi window feature but I'm not sure about this at all. It can also be some kind of floating browser app, I don't know.

Here you can try Heads Up:

And how's OMNI-ROM? does it have any special features? except from the OmniSwitch I don't use it at all..

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks for the link! :-)

OMNI Rom is well-known for its customized/modded app and features such like custom hotword in Google Search, multi window, OMNI Switch (as you mentioned) and more.

It supports a fine amount of devices and the developers are always trying to make their best to bring up the newest version.

    Read about features here:

I can add multi window to any rom right? I don't really like XHaloFloatingWindow.. it's not working well to me for some reason.. Do you know something better?

    ReplyDelete
  17. No, unfortunately I don't know any add-on multiwindow mod. For effective work, though, I use floating Tiny Apps that offers some handy tools such as notepad, calculator and more and basically works as multiwindow.

Oh that's nice, but I guess I can't add a custom app and to use it as floating up right?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't know of any other add-on/module..

Do you know any module or something like that can bring knock on or something like that to android 4.4.4? The apps I've tried aren't compatible with that version because of the kernel it's not working well..
