How to manually reroot Nexus device after an OTA 4.3 update with ClockWorkMod recovery installed?

If you updated your Nexus 7 to the newest Android  version - 4.3, you probably noticed that root access has disappeared. When you opened SuperSU (or any other similar program), you saw there: Su binary is not installed, the app will not work. This walkthrough will help you to reroot your Nexus 7 back!

The entire process is simple and easy.
All you need to have is:

  • ClockWorkMod Recovery installed (If you don't have it, you need to flash it with NexusRootToolkit)
  • Newest SuperSUv1.51

Rooting:

  1. Download and put the SuperSU package to your device (/emulated/0)
  2. Shut-down your device
  3. Reboot into bootloader by pressing Powerbutton+volume down
  4. Using volume+/- select recovery mode and proceed by pressing the power button
  5. Wipe cache+dalvik cache
  6. Select install .zip
  7. Find the SuperSU zip and flash it.
  8. Select NO on "Disable stock recovery flash" option!
  9. Reboot.

The root access is now retrieved! If you don't have the ClockWorkMod recovery yet, please download the NexusRoot Toolkit and flash the CWM recovery first.
